This case study aimed to analyze the return on investment in the acquisition of a boiler for energy cogeneration from biomass in the light of the theory of Enterprise Resource Based View. The company in question is a furniture industry which generates wood waste as chips and sawdust, which could be used as raw material for power generating. About the methodological procedures, this is a descriptive study, with qualitative and quantitative approach. Data collection was performed with the managing partners with suppliers of boiler, as well as funding agencies and insurance companies. In addition, feasibility analisys calculations were performed based on the analisys of the simple payback, discounted payback, IRR, NPV and VRIO Model. From the analisys it was found that the investment is environmentally feasible and represents an important sustainable competitive advantage. However, it is important to consider that the implementation of the project, the company would commit large portion of its revenues jeopardizing your financial health without ensuring an economic return that justifies the investment. It is worth emphasizing the importance of studying alternative measures lower cost.
