Abstract

It is reported in this study, management and use of a Geographic Information System - GIS with the tool for routing of cargo vehicles. The software used was the SPRING, version 5.2.6, which allows us to develop routes for delivery of goods using algorithms that include routing procedure arc. The objective is to reduce the distance to be traveled by the vehicle, reducing fuel costs and consequently the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, characterizing the transport activity as sustainable. The case study was conducted in the city of Irati - PR. The data collected and the results obtained from the SPRING along with data taken from organs and a branch company were processed in Microsoft Excel software. The results show the costs for each route as well as the reduction of pollutant emissions in the path of progress. The obitidos values for financial costs and decrease environmental impacts are small expression, however, in the course of a year, the values begin to be significant for the company.
