Abstract

In the context of urban development, many public urbanization policies are developed disregarding relevant aspects, related to environmental issues. There are several strands of rational and updated technologies for the development of cities, especially those who consider ecological aspects and citizen-environment integration as a crucial factor to the growth of cities. One of these technologies is the consideration of permeable pavements in order to improve the absorption and decrease the flow in urban stormwater drain. Another alternative to the traditional development and urbanization process is favoring alternative transport, promoted by the establishment of dedicated lanes and strategic connection points. In this context of urban planning, efforts in the search field, both in the area of permeable paving as on urban mobility must be made in order to provide more sustainable scenarios of urbanization. This research studied, analyzed the feasibility of the application and proposed alternatives for urban mobility and permeable paving in the Mineirinho Stream Watershed, in the city of São Carlos, São Paulo. The research used the following methodological steps: the preparation of thematic maps of the Watershed using geoprocessing tools; the vehicular and pedestrians traffic count on the main roads of the Watershed; field observations for the diagnosis of existing types of paving on the roads of the Watershed; an estimated permeability of rainwater into different types of floors. Data were worked for the creation of thematic maps of the Watershed, and to analyze the feasibility and suggesting alternatives for urban mobility and permeable paving. From the study conducted, it was possible to establish a preliminary diagnosis about the traffic and the type of flooring used in the Mineirinho Stream Watershed, highlighting important symbiotic relationships between urban mobility and alternative drainage into consideration of public urbanization policies.
