The agroforestry backyard is the area around the house where tree plantations, medicinal and ornamental plants, grain cultivation and vegetables, and animal husbandry are carried out, for example, becoming a production system with potential for use in small properties, as is the case with Brazilian rural settlements. The objective of this study was to characterize the composition and floristic diversity of ruralagroforestry backyards located in the San Francisco settlement, municipality of Canutama - AM. 32 agroforestry backyards were inventoried, the floristic composition of the backyards indicated a great wealth of plants, with a total of 140 species, being 64 medicinal and 42 food. Low similarity was observed between the backyards in terms of floristic composition, using the Jaccard Index. The species are cultivated mainly for family use, promoting well-being and treating diseases. The great diversity of plants observed in the backyards reflects the fact that the settlers seek to cultivate them, aiming, in particular, for their survival and subsistence.
