Considering the trends of expansion of agricultural production in the coming decades and the intensification of discussions about its effects in relation to climate change, this research sought to understand how the use of biodigesters in rural properties can promote sustainability and mitigation of greenhouse gases ( GHG). For operationalization, a qualitative study was carried out with interviews with specialists and agricultural producers and non-participant observations on rural properties. In the results it is observed that the biodigester is efficient in the removal of organic load, promoting sustainability with benefits in its three dimensions. It improves the quality of life of farming families, adds value to the rural owner from the generation of biogas and biofertilizer and contributes to the quality of the environment in rural areas, avoiding contamination of water and soil and reducing the use of sources non-renewable energy sources, in addition to helping to reduce GHG by removing sources of methane gas from open spaces.
