Abstract

This article aims to analyze the management of solid waste generated in events held in the city of Paranaíba-MS. It is undeniable that the events bring with them positives and also negatives marcs. On the positive side, it can be said that they mobilize the local economy, generating economic gains for the benefit of the population; on the other hand, it is observed that they cause numerous problems of environmental and social nature. It is imperative, then, to have sustainability as focus, avoiding that the losses in environmental and social terms outweigh the economic gains. The type of research is descriptive, bibliographic research and consultation on information sites. The approach used is qualitative, since, once the effects are understood, solutions are suggested. The technique chosen is the case study, through an interview with the organizers of the events that took place. We used content analysis for data processing. It was found that the organizers are unaware of the importance of using certain resources and practices to minimize the environmental impact caused by excessive generation of solid waste and practices regarding the proper disposal of those materials is not always effective. However, it was noted a concern regarding solid waste and partnership with the cooperative of recycling.
