Abstract

This work brings a reflection about the interactions and the appreciation of the body and the child subject in early childhood education, identifying possible ways of adjusting and controlling corporeality in early childhood. We understand the unity of body and mind as an integral dimension of the subject, we value corporeality and children's cultures, recognizing children as subjects of rights. We developed an exploratory study during the Supervised Curricular Internship activity in Early Childhood Education. The interaction in the institution and later the analysis of the data confirmed that schooling with a tendency in traditional techniques turns children into “pseudo-subjects”, the child's body starts to be controlled and contained by the rules of the adult.
