In the context of the challenges related to teacher training, this article results from an articulated research to accompany in a Pedagogy Course (2006 – 2017), focusing on the perspectives of action of the students with attention to early childhood education. With Bakhtinian theoretical-methodological references, it discusses the axes linked to formation, the experiences of performance and the requirements for teaching work implicated in the positioning of children's education in the horizon of professional choices. From the data, it reports the presence of early childhood education in the repertoire of professional possibilities, marked by meanings of discredit, signaling the recognition of an action field which needs to advance in its affirmation and social recognition.
