Abstract

It aims to identify central ideas of scientific research in the area of ??education that address the work of the second teacher who assists students with disabilities in regular education classes in Santa Catarina. To achieve the objective, the research used a systematic review methodology, in the CAPES theses and dissertations catalog database, from March to April 2023 with the descriptor “second professor”, 18 dissertations were found. The study points to the challenges that lie in the lack of legislation that establishes the duties and rights of the second teacher; that the head teacher of the class exempts himself from his role as teacher of the student with a second teacher and for the scarcity of pedagogical resources, linked to the precariousness of the teachers' working conditions. Among the verified perspectives and possibilities, the implementation of a continuing education that meets the real needs of the school community on the theme of diversity and inclusion stands out.
