This article aims to carry out an analysis of three books related to the discipline of Sociology in the National Book and Didactic Material Program (PNLD) of 2018. Thus, it is intended to identify the concepts and authors that relate to the work category. Still, a synthesis about the historical trajectory of Sociology as a discipline of Brazilian Basic Education is elaborated. The theoretical-methodological perspective used is Historical-Dialectical Materialism, being a bibliographic and qualitative research. Regarding the three works, there is uniformity in the approach of the classic authors of Sociology, as well as in the discussion about the Taylorist-Fordist pattern. In reference to the most current discussions, we note the pertinence of the analysis of the new metamorphoses of the world of work only in the first two works.
