EDUCATIONAL POLICIES FOR BRAZILIAN HIGH SCHOOL: FROM CIVIL-MILITARY DICTATORSHIP TO NEW REFORM 2017

This article analyzes the historical and political assumptions for secondary education in Brazil, with emphasis from the military regime (1964-1985). The aim is to resume historical understanding and establish analyzes and comparisons with the current High School Reform (in Brazilian Portuguese: Reforma do Ensino Médio, REM) of 2017. It refers to a documentary and bibliographic research, in which the analysis of laws was carried out and official documents that regulate secondary education in Brazil, in order to understand its historical assumptions and developments, implications and consequences that permeate the current REM. The results show that the policy for high school was geared towards the formation of individuals through guidelines based on the principles of neoliberal economics, as a way to commercialize high school and train workers with minimal subjectivities to be flexible service providers available in the job market.
