The research aimed to investigate the understanding of teachers in two schools in the city of Criciúma (SC) from what the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) prescribes about the transition from Early Childhood Education to Elementary School. To achieve the objective, the methodology used was field research with a qualitative approach, in which four teachers who work in preschool and in the first year of the initial years participated, through a semi-structured interview. The research showed that most teachers are aware of what the BNCC is, but not about the transition of teaching levels. The reason given by the interviewees was because they did not participate in training on the BNCC or even, when they did, the transition issue was not addressed. This transition that children experience stems from the change of main activity, because at this moment children go through crises.
