Marble and granite cutting residues are present in all marble factories in Brazil, resulting from the processing of rocks used for the production of parts used in civil construction. In most of them, this waste is randomly discarded, causing a great environmental impact. In the city of Estância, in the southern region of Sergipe, there are several factories that use concrete blocks, these require sand and cement for theirproduction and reuse this type of waste, since the waste from granite cutting has characteristics similar to sand. Therefore, in this work, formulations for the production
of concrete blocks were elaborated, in which it was incorporated to the waste in substitution of the binder, in the proportions of 10%, 20% and 40%. The blocks were obtained in a manual mold, and after curing for 28 days in a closed place, they were found in the technological tests of strength to compression, water absorption and bulk density. The results sought that when incorporating the residue, the strength compression obtained was at least 3 MPa and the water absorption was below 10%, meeting the requirements of the class “C” block according to NBR 6186. Thus, it concluded - it should be noted that the residue from the cutting of granite can be reused in the production of concrete blocks and prevent its inappropriate disposal into the environment.
