Abstract

Sanitation includes activities related to water and sewage treatment, garbage collection and hygiene practices. Law No. 11.445 of 2007 establishes the national guidelines for basic sanitation in the country. In the State of Ceará, the State Policy for Rural Sanitation seeks the universalization of water supply and sewage services in rural areas and in urban communities and small towns. The Integrated Rural Sanitation System of Ceará (SISAR/CE) was created in 1996, with the support of CAGECE, the state government and Banco Kfw. It emerged as a management alternative, through the need to guarantee that the water supply systems of rural communities had continuity and quality over time. Therefore, the study aims to evaluate and discuss the conditions of the water for human consumption that supplies the 10 de Abril Settlement, located in the municipality of Crato – Ceará. In this perspective, SISAR - BSA was asked to provide the reports of the last three months of treated water and the most recent report of the physical-chemical and microbiological analyzes of the potability of raw water, in order to observe whether the water that supplies the community is within the parameters and quality standards required by current legislation. It can be seen that the management alternative shared between the community and SISAR - BSA guarantees treated water within the drinking water standards for human consumption,
thus enabling the improvement of the health and quality of life of the population served.
