ENVIRONMENTAL ZONING PROPOSAL APPLIED TO THE VARGEM DOS PINHEIROS RIVER WATERSHED, ANGELINA, SANTA CATARINA, SOUTH OF BRAZIL

Abstract

The Vargem dos Pinheiros river watershed, located in Angelina city in the state of Santa Catarina South of Brazil, has environmental attributes that are striking in their territory. At the same time, human activities potentially degrading the natural landscape exert an increasingly constant pressure on such attributes. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop a proposal of environmental zoning applied in this watershed, respecting the environmental constraints and considering the uses already established. Thematic maps were made with GIS techniques and field work obtaining as main result the Environmental Special Areas of Interest design in the environmental zoning proposal applied to the watershed. The final result came to the proposition of four zones defined in the Environmental Protection Area of Interest (with 79.35% of the territory), Environmental Control Interest Zone (with 6.92% of the territory), Zone of Interest Environmental Rehabilitation (with 12.28% of the territory) and Environmental Adjustment Interest Zone (with 1.45% of the territory). It is hoped that these results can contribute during the decision-making of public managers in interventions aimed at the development of the territorial space of sustainable and rational manner, respecting the environmental constraints and considering the uses already established.
