In this article, we discussed the use of oral history as a research methodology in the area of education, based on a study about the left-wing political formation process of Marlene Soccas, who began his militancy during the Civil-Military Dictatorship period in the Brazil and continues to militate to this day. To this end, we made some theoretical-methodological considerations about oral history, described the interview process and reflected some ethical implications inherent to an investigation in the qualitative field.
