This text has as its theme the care of babies from 0 to 2 years old in an institution of early childhood education. We present, as research, elements of an ethnographic studies carried out in a municipal public institution on the outskirts of the city of Maceió/AL under precarious conditions. We analyzed the knowledge and affections present in the speeches of a teacher and daycare assistants about the care practices as a way of understanding the teaching place in the division of the care activity in the institution. Thereunto, we undertake a theoretical dialogue with feminist studies and discourses that transit the nursery space. We analyzed the actions and discourses of adults working in a nursery, exposing the care of babies and poor children from the perspective of the teacher and assistants related to affection and care/education links, focusing on the relationship on/of the nursery.
