STATISTICAL SYNOPSIS OF BASIC EDUCATION: THE PLACE OF STUDENTS WITH HIGH CAPACITY

Abstract

High Capacity Students are considered belonged to the Special Education students in Brazil. Knowing the geographical distribution of this public is important to public policies are adopted efficiently, aiming at their full development. The objective of the study was to verify and analyze the official data on enrollment of High Capacity Students, in 2018 in Brazil, available in the School census. This study was characterized as a documentary research of mixed method. The results pointed to the low number of enrollments in all Brazilian regions and states, and differences were found between places with and without specific services for students with High Capacity. From this result was inferred that one of the reasons for the low incidence of student identification is the lack of teacher training, given the low offer of subjects at bachelor’s programs and courses of specialization about high capacity.
