Abstract

The heavy inheritance of black slavery and the absence of policies in post-slavery left traces throughout Brazilian society: black men and women were on the fringes of the project that was stood. One of the most difficult areas was the education, which after many struggles has gradually become an insertion space, especially through affirmative policies. This article examines the absence of black teachers in the Higher Education in Brazil, especially black women. It concluded that more have to be done to combat racial violence in the academic environment in order to build a more plural and democratic university.
