Abstract

This work aims at analyzing articles about literature teaching in secondary education, published between 1957 and 1963, in Escola Secundária, quarterly magazine published by the Campanha de aperfeiçoamento e difusão do Ensino Secundário (CADES). On the one hand, it tries to understand what the authors of these texts defended about the objectives of literature teaching; on the other hand, it explores the opinions of writers on the teaching methods for literature in the Brazilian secondary education. Thereunto, André Chervel's (1990) reflections are used on the transformations of the disciplines-knowledge in historical perspective, being provided by teachers and / or by textbooks and educational journals.
