In pursuit of a doctoral degree, a research study was conducted into the nature of the activities implemented by Physical Education teachers in their lessons. With the aim of gaining insight into the Physical Education teaching dynamics reality in a concrete area (San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina), full lessons were observed in educational institutions. Data collection encompassed both filming and hand-written note-taking of the lessons’ contextual data. Crossing both records led to a lesson written text that serves as the basis for the study. This article shows the relationship between the class conditions (physical space and environment) and the teacher’s work, which involves, through the use of language (RIESTRA, 2011), turning the lesson into a social and cultural environment fit for teaching and learning. This hypothesis stems from the concept of the word as environment for the conscience (VOLOSHINOV, 1992). This text documents the way in which the educators make use of problematic or conflictive situations that arise during the lessons in order to develop didactic teaching strategies.
