FORTY YEARS OF CHILE’S SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION: RADIOGRAPHY OF EDUCATION INVESTIGATIVE REALITY

Abstract

This work presents a metrical analysis of science, in a longitudinal cut considering the last forty years in Chilean scientific production in Education area of investigation. The information source used was ISI Web of Science data base, classification category “Education & Educational Research”. The contribution from Chilean educational agents to the journals of main chain was quantified. The results are previously framed in the world and Latin-American concert in order to compare the contribution from our country to the whole scientific production. Theme areas investigated were detailed, as the number and profile of researchers and institutions which produce great knowledge with them. The results showed an exponential growth in the mentioned production along the last 10 years, and it is concentrated in 33 authors and 7 Chilean institutions.
