This article aims to discuss the topic of Reading set on the essay Sobre a Leitura, by Marcel Proust (Parisian writer who was born in 1871 and died in 1922). The goal of this work is approach the Proust’s literary universe by reading experiences built in the author’s childhood to see through new viewpoints, perspectives for formative means. The bibliographical study tries to dialogue with Proust (2001), Nietzsche (2003), and Larrosa (2002, 2004), bringing as argument the perception of reading. Although, it is a transversal educational activity which is running through different areas of knowledge in means like schools, academic and social life. Unfortunately, the reading has not been developing satisfactorily and encouraging from the student’s early age. It could cause serious implications for the learning process in their trajectory of education and aspects of everyday life. In conclusion, the idea of reading devolved in the work Sobre a Leitura can allow us to realize how Proust evaluates and encourages reading at an early age, bringing the importance of the act of reading through its subjective contact with the reader.
