The objective of this paper is presenting a critical discussion about the teacher training to whom teaches Mathematics in the early years of elementary school. It begins by outlining the matter of difficulties in teaching and learning Mathematics, recurring in research and academic discourses, highliting as one of the factors to teacher training. Then we present the contributions of two different theoretical, Lee Shulman and V. V. Davydov to face this problem. It is concluded affirming that V. V. Davydov’s contributions are more effective and that its proposal could be better used to advance in the quality of Mathematics education. Thereunto, its introducing is necessary from the initial teacher training.
