Abstract

The present article is based on the research carried out for the Course Completion Work (TCC), presented to the Pedagogy degree at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), in December 2018. This text provides a reflection on the possible factors that may influence the early childhood educator's pedagogical practice and ethnic and racial mediation. For this, the objective was to understand the role of educators in the face of ethnic and racial issues present in the formative context of early childhood education. The theoretical-methodological approach was based on qualitative and exploratory research. For data collection, the following instruments were used: a questionnaire that pointed out the ethnographic profile and a semi-structured interview with specific questions regarding the theme. The data analysis was sustained on an organizational and systematized process supported by Bardin (2011).
