School rules: perspectives of students

Abstract

The article presents a characterization of the concept of students about the contents and purpose of school rules as well as explaining how they influence the socialization of students at school. The study was organized around the following aspects of conceptual nature: (a) what students consider as school rules? (b) in which situations students consider as necessary the existence of rules? and (c) what students think about breaking school rules? The study will contribute to the understanding of the phenomena of indiscipline by clarifying regulatory practices of the school and identify practices of students as generators of default or break of school regulations. Respecting teacher’s practices, the study can contribute to a reflection and debate around concepts and applicability of school regulatory.
