The early childhood teachers’ training is a theoretical and practical field that impacts the quality of children’s life, their families and communities, as well as a sustainable development. This paper presents the training project of the University of Évora (UE) based on a professional profile, aiming to respond to the complexity of the profession nowadays. The theoretical and pedagogical foundations of this training are: 1) pedagogical isomorphism; 2) inter-action between the University and the educational contexts; 3) sustained cultural enrichment in the sociocultural contexts of the UniverCity; and 4) establishment of collaborative learning communities. Learning through projects and socialized writing are favoured as tools of construction and affirmation of the profession based on inquiry processes that confer scientific grounds and promote the quality of the professional practices.
