Author Guidelines

POIESIS, a biannual Journal of the UNISUL Graduate Program in Education (Master’s Degree), accepts original works on current and relevant issues in the field of Education, resulting from theoretical studies, surveys, controversial discussions, among others. Works will be submitted anonymously to the members of the Editorial Board or ad hoc collaborators for assessment. The names of referees and of the authors will remain secret.

Reviewers’ decision on approval or disapproval shall be communicated to the original author, or to the first author, if there is more than one.
Manuscripts sent to Poiésis will not be returned.
The works should be thoroughly reviewed before submission; otherwise they will not be accepted for publication. If any modifications regarding the structure or the contents of the text are required by reviewers, the manuscript will be returned to the author for appropriate changes. The copyright of each article is yielded to Poiésis only for the first publication. The journal provides open access to the published materials, the articles are free to be used, and reproduction for nonprofit educational purposes is allowed, as long as proper reference is made.

Highlights

*Approved works which were not published in the issue whose were submitted can be published in next editions, if it will be of the interest of the author(s).

* POIESIS publishes works in Portuguese, English, French, Italian and Spanish. Those who have Portuguese, French, Italian or Spanish as mother tongue should be present the Abstract in English. If English is mother tongue, the Abstract should be in Portuguese.

* Only one submission is allowed for each author and/or co-author in each issue.

* The maximum number of authors for each work is three.

The views and opinions expressed in the published papers are the responsibility of their authors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Editorial Board.

Formatting

The originals should have the minimum of 12 and the maximum of 18 pages, besides meet the following procedures and requirements:

1) General structure: The manuscript should be formatted with Calibri font, size 12, spacing 1.5, A-4 size paper with all margins set to 2.5 cm, justified alignment; pages must not be numbered. The length, including abstract, footnotes and references should not exceed the limit of 18 pages. The manuscript should have the following structure:

1.1) Start with the Title (and subtitle) center aligned.

1.2) “Resumo e palavras-chave” (in Portuguese): Calibri font size 11[see NBR-6028 guidelines of Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT).

1.3) English Title (centered alignment) followed by the abstract and keywords.

1.4) Body text.

1.5) References.

1.6) Attachments (if any).

Observations: Items 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 must appear on the first page; the author’s data must be updated in the profile of the Journal: Title, email and postal address.

2) Title and subtitle of the work in Portuguese, English and/or Spanish in capital letters, bold, font size 12, centered aligned.

3) Abstracts in Portuguese, English and/or Spanish, according to the NBR-6028:2003 of Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), in a single paragraph. A maximum of 10 lines, font size 11, single spaced. Between three and five keywords in Portuguese, English and/or Spanish should be used.

4) Footnotes should be only those essential, explanatory and concise at the end of page and numbering should be strictly in accordance with the information on the text.

5) Illustrations, if any, should be included in the body text.

6) Citations to references in the text should be are listed surrounded by parentheses with the following format: (SILVEIRA, 1999) or (SILVEIRA, 1999, p. 51), according to NBR 10520/2002 of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT). Full quotations within the text (more than three lines), should have a 4 cm indent from the left margin, font size 11, no quotation marks.

7) The list of References should be in alphabetical order and single-spaced, according to the NBR 6023:2002 of Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT).

Poiésis does not pay authors for the publication. Materials that do not meet the above requirements will not be considered for review and publication.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being considered for publication by any other journal; otherwise it must be justified in "Comments to the Editor".

  • The submission file is in one of the following formats: Microsoft Word™, OpenOffice™ or RTF (provided that they do not exceed 2MB).

  • URLs for the references have been provided, when required.

  • The text is a Calibri font, size 12 in the main body text, 1.5 line spacing; italic is used rather than underlining (except for URL addresses); figures and tables are placed within the text, not at the end of the document as attachment.

  • The text adheres to all the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines section “About the Journal”.

  • The identification of authorship was removed from the file and the properties at Word™, thus ensuring the confidentiality of the Journal, when submitted for peer review, according to the instructions available in “Ensuring Blind Peer Review”.

  • As part of the submission process, authors are required to check their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions that do not meet the requirements will not be considered for review and publication.
