Public policies that encourage the solidary economy in local production systems can result in actions that favor sustainable regional development. This research sought to improve the understanding of the impacts of a public policy based on sustainable public purchases, the School Furniture Regionalization Program - PROMOVE, on the socioeconomic and environmental dynamics of a regional productive system, in this case the furniture chains in the city of Parintins, in the state of Amazonas. In addition to the assessment of environmental and economic performance indicators for the chains, the stage of social capital and the structures of the network of relationships between furniture managers and public agents were analyzed. The data were obtained through semi-structured interviews, direct observations and on-the-spot measurements of the performance of the production processes. The results show that relating the understanding of the production and economic factors to the analysis of social capital and public policies of development are fundamental for the understanding of the dynamics of a regional productive system. Promove favored the integration of furniture actors and the creation of social and physical capital. However, it is emphasized that greater levels of internal and external articulation of managers are necessary for local groups to fully develop governance and the socioeconomic potential o value chains.Downloads
