Abstract

This paper aims to critically portray the implications of the practice of planned obsolescence. This phenomenon, which has been the main driver of consumption in the current market dynamics, brings with it a set of intrinsic negative effects that reach dimensions of environmental and economic nature, affecting even social organization and public health. In response to this scenario of evident social harm, some social experiences of resistance to this practice have emerged, along with attempts to find better forms of production.
