The development of “alternative agriculture”, that consider traditional farming practices and the research agenda, enabled the rediscovery and rise of a new model of agriculture, a reference to sustainability. This research aimed to understand the sustainability in the management process in organic production system from a case study in a property certified by audit. Using the SWOT method of diagnosis for strategic planning, indicators were elaborated for the main organizational sectors. Although the socio-environmental parameters are aligned with the guidelines presented by the Law No. 10.831 / 2003 and the certification by audit, which shows the importance of organic certification in improving the management of production processes in these systems, the evaluation of the results allowed identifying the critical points that can drive the company's unsustainability and discuss them with the participants of the productive processes in the company and highlight considerations regarding the administrative process of the studied company, as well as the method and theoretical foundations used. The results provide information for the management and institutional improvement of the sector, allowing a more specific design of future research.
