Abstract

In the city of Goiânia - Goiás, there is an environmental problem related to the disposal of construction waste. Currently, this waste is being taken to a landfill and used to cover an area composed of organic waste. However, this practice has negative consequences for the environment. A large part of these building materials could be recycled, processed and transformed into new products. This approach would provide a viable alternative for the construction sector, promoting sustainability and favoring the environment, as it is considered important to emphasize and apply sustainability principles in academic and professional projects. Improper waste disposal negatively impacts the environment, therefore, it is crucial to seek transformative solutions. In this context, this research includes a bibliographic review and a historical survey on waste treatment in Goiânia. In addition, guidelines are presented and the creation of a recycling plant specialized in solid waste from construction and demolition is proposed.
