The environmental management in Brazil, from which the objective is to minimize negative environmental impacts of projects considered to be potentially polluting. The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is the main study used, in environmental licensing processes, to analyze the environmental feasibility of activities or works that are likely to cause significant degradation in the environment. For this reason, it`s considered a fundamental instrument for the effectiveness of the Brazilian Environmental Policy. However, despite the EIS importance, these studies presents commonly several failures, such as errors in the identification and environmental assessment impacts and in proposing measures that do not mitigate the negative impacts. The present study analyzed the EIS of Transolimpica road using the Lee and Colley Review Package, a tool consecrated in assessing the environmental studies quality. From the results, the study was classified as unsatisfactory due to several failures, mainly in the area related to the identification and environmental assessment impacts.
