Abstract

This study, based on the conceptual framework of socio-discursive interactionism, results from the analysis of school activities currently being systematized in the action-research project UCS-PRODUTORE, which aims at investigating the nature of pre-service and in-service education programs for teachers of Portuguese. The main objective of this article is to discuss the advantages of teaching, beyond the school dimension, several textual genres which circulate in different discursive environments, through a didactic-pedagogical activity called Genre Chain, which attempts to develop the discursive competence of the language users.
