Abstract

This article describes the practice of a translator who uses a web search tool (Google) to solve some translation problems. By using a think-aloud protocol, it demonstrates how the translator employs the tool to research a language corpus in order to evaluate the grammaticality and adequacy of his translation as well as to find out how to translate individual lexical items. The advantages and limitations of such translation strategy are discussed.
