Abstract

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the relevance of the analysis of the notion of substance in discourse analysis and how it contributes to the meaning processes in contemporary discourses. For this, we will make a brief retake, look into the General Linguistics Course and also the Enunciation Theory aiming at analyzing, apart from the evidences, the concepts of substance, form and materiality in the definition of language. After that, we will approach the Pecheutian Discourse Analyses theory, observing the possibilities that appeared based on that theory. We concluded that the analysis of substances (for instance, colors in the verbal text) requires theoretical devices, which make clear how they contribute to the meaning process of these texts.
