Abstract

In this paper we examined the intellectual changes in strategic management using citation and co-citation analysis of the articles published in the Strategic Management Journal (SMJ) between 2001 and 2007. The intent was to assess whether the dominant authors in strategic management to check the dominant theories that supported the research in the beginning of the new century. In the work we confirm that the current focus of the research in strategy still have a great influence of the resource-Based View (RBV). However, we detected the focus in internal features as sources or challenges to the competitive advantage of organizations, especially in respect to knowledge, organizational learning and innovation. The work also shows that Transaction Costs Theory (TCT) still have a strong influence in strategy works in spite other concepts and visions are emerging.
