Abstract

This work evaluates the relationship of policies adopted by the Portuguese government and their relationship with port strategy in the periods 2005-2010 and 2011-2015. The model conceptualization of research is based on the literature and policies followed in Portugal. The sample with 172 valid observations supports the model of structural equation model (SEM). We conclude that policy options of the government for Portuguese ports implies differences on port strategies. This work contributes for a best comprehension on factors that feature the national port system and give more consistence and sustainability to it. A better knowledge of government policies relationship with port strategy options is another important contribution.
