“Explorations of a Succession”: a Political Cartography of the Pré-estadonovista Period (1935-1936)

Abstract

This article analyses the political schemes involving the main party leaders in Rio Grande do Sul between the years of 1935 and 1936. Through the exchange of letters, it was possible to perceive the political alliances and dissentions at national and state levels, as well as the political strategies of former governor José Antônio Flores da Cunha related to the formation of an opposition front to Vargas' government.
