Abstract

This text aims at reflecting on the transformations occurred in production/fruition of cultural objects, specifically, on the changes of time/pace/speed from the industrial and technological processes, from the late 19th to the 20th century. For this purpose, the machine is considered, in its various manufacturing processes, as a metaphor for artistic production, in view of its acceleration and technical development during this period. In this manner, the machine approaches the narrative fold of Osman Lins in the writing of O relógio de Julius Heckthorn, in the novel Avalovara.
