Through a demonstration of how Macunaíma is overdetermined by (at least) two enunciation and imagination regimes (western and amerindian), this paper aims to present new reading paths for Mario de Andrade´s rhapsody. Anticipating a series of issues debated in contemporary etnology, Macunaíma, as a symptom of the impossible search for Brazil, would therefore operate constant transpositions and equivocations between one regime and another, resulting in a (formally) metamorphic disposition (or character), irreducible to a (single) morphology.Downloads
