Abstract

The Huarochiri Manuscript holds a summation of native Andean religious tradition and an image of the superhuman and human world as imagined around A.D. 1600. Here one catches a glimpse of the image of god as a trickster (ambiguous creator and destroyer).

  • Sérgio Medeiros
    Poeta, ensaísta e professor titular de teoria literária na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). Publicou, entre outros livros, o ensaio A formiga-leão e outros animais na Guerra do Paraguai e o manifesto pela poesia pagã A idolatria poética ou a febre de imagens. Traduziu com Gordon Brotherston o poema maia-quiché Popol Vuh. Colabora no jornal O Estado de S. Paulo.
