Different repetition: aspects of art in Brazil of the XXth and XIXth centuries

Abstract

This text proposes a reflection about the relationship between some modernist paintings and part of D.Pedro II’s iconography accomplished in the XIXth century. Its objective is to stress the unity of composition structure of both productions seen as allegories of Brazil.
