Abstract

The sense of sight in Western history was treated as the surest way to describe facts of the world. It is also through the vision that the process of differentiation of human bodies is consolidated as a means of separating population and guiding discourses to assimilate a standard type of existence. In attention to this problem, the present text explores the theses of Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui and Jean-Godefroy Bidima to problematize the colonial vision through the decolonization of the look. A decolonization attentive to the body and how the phobias of the colonial mind reproduce circumscribed images of the act of writing.
