Abstract

The Brazilian political scene, between 2017 and 2021, consisted of scenes engendered in the repetition and perpetuation of the spectacle of death and violence in the media. From this cutout, it is intended to highlight and understand the mechanisms and fuel that sustain these productions. For this, we are anchored in Freudian studies on the aspects of the psychological aspects that underlie the formation of the masses and the death drive as an instrument for the compulsive propagation of headlines, news and destructive discourses in the public space. In this way, this article aims to list headlines, news and speeches by the Head of State to signal the spectacularization of death as content consumed in the media and to build reflections about the death drive as a driver of repetitions and also for the establishment of changes. The content analysis will be carried out under the light of Psychoanalysis and its transit with the other fields of knowledge.
