Abstract

This study aims to make an analysis of the film The age of Adaline (2015) seeking
to present the symbolic dimension existing in the narrative through symbolic hermeneutics.
Parallels were drawn between the Imaginary theory and the process of inversion of the
existential anguish experienced by the character Adaline, whose social and affective
interaction was substantially affected by a phenomenon that blocked the effects of time. The
narrative allows us to theoretically discuss the issues of symbolism and semblances of time
and, especially, the concept of anthropological path in the perspective of the anthropology
of the imaginary of Gilbert Durand (2002).
