Canceled Matter

Abstract

Along the last years the work of Vik Muniz has been examined under the most varied angles, but until now it hasn’t been stressed enough that which seems to be his decisive procedure, namely the photographic record that follows the plastic construction. Here one intends to verify what is implied in that process, beginning with the canceling of the materiality of the work.
