Abstract

The texts by João Gilberto Noll can be read as essays on new modes of narration, connecting themselves to a conception of reading and of the reader whose main trait is incompleteness. By apprehending the implicit reader in the short stories of A máquina do ser, his last book, an attempt is made here to detect the underlying literary theory in Noll’s work, in a dialogue between the immobility and/or flux of his characters.
