Abstract

Analysis of the narratives “O homem da multidão,” by Poe, of “El matadero,” by Esteban Echeverría, and “relato de ocorrência em que qualquer semelhança não é mera coincidência.” By Rubem Fonseca, aiming at showing three moments of fictionalization of the notions of multitude, people and mass: in the first, the search for identity, in the second, the ritualizing of death, and in the third, the post-modern barbarism.
