Abstract

O envelhecimento populacional é um fenômeno que traz consigo diversos desafios individuais e coletivos, sobretudo no que se refere aos cuidados de longo prazo. As Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPIs) nesse cenário se configuram como opção de moradia que possibilita conviver com outros idosos e sob cuidados de terceiros. Os transtornos mentais são de alta prevalência nesta população, com destaque para demência e transtornos de humor (depressão e ansiedade). Com o objetivo de identificar estratégias de atenção à saúde mental desenvolvidas em ILPIs, foi realizada esta revisão sistemática. Os trabalhos analisados (n = 36) abordam diferentes estratégias, como estimulação cognitiva, exercícios físicos orientados, melhor estruturação das ILPIs, entre outros. Os trabalhos trazem resultados positivos com relação à qualidade de vida, sintomas de ansiedade/depressão e funcionalidade dos idosos. Os resultados preliminares apontam uma variedade de estratégias, aplicadas em diferentes cenários, com potencial benefício para a população idosa institucionalizada.
